UK high-level delegation headed by Lord Mayor of London Alderman Roger Gifford has visited Sunday morning the Egyptian Exchange’s headquarters.
During the visit, Gifford has reviewed UK’s cooperation expertise with global capital markets in order to lure new firms to get listed on the London Stock Exchange (LSE). He said UK’s cooperation expertise is based on multiple elements, notably the governance, transparency and financing mechanisms.
Gifford has also revealed that his planned meeting with Egypt’s Investment Minister will tackle plans for development.
Confidence is the gateway to injecting new investments to the Egyptian market for the current period, Gifford noted.
For his side, EGX Chairman Mohamed Omran has stressed the importance of having effective communications with foreign investors; particularly from the UK’s capital as for being one of the most major worldwide financial center in order to rebuild confidence in Egypt’s market.
Moreover, the EGX Chairman stated that EGX’s infrastructure and technical capabilities are ready to further introduce new financial instruments mainly sukuks (Islamic bonds).
