The Lithuanian parliament has decided to ban Russians from purchasing real estate on Tuesday until 2024, citing risks to national security.
The ban will not be applicable to Russian residents in Lithuania. The parliament on the other hand have halted issuing new visas to Russians and Belarusians.
“The vast majority of Russian citizens support their country’s aggressive military actions, and do not take actions to stop the aggression of their country’s regime, so they share the responsibility,” said the Lithuanian Deputy Foreign Minister, Jurgita Neliupsiene in March.
Citizens of the two countries, who carry other travel documents like previously issued visas, will be subjected to individual extended checks at the border to decide whether they pose a threat to national security or not.
