The online retailer Jumia will introduce a new arm in Egypt dubbed Jumia Travel in 2017, Hesham Safwat, executive director of Jumia Egypt, announced in a press conference on Tuesday.
Jumia Egypt targets raising customer satisfaction rates to 90% from 85 percent by the end of this month, added Safwat. The leading online retailer has about 800 suppliers and 2,700 local partners.
According to the last statistics,Jumia Egypt is offering around 200,000 products this year compared to 700 products in 2012. Five out of ten users place their orders using mobile phones, Safwat said noting that 30 percent of the website’s users are residents of other governorates outside Cairo and Alexandria.
Four years ago, Jumia Egypt used to receive an average of 100 orders per day, now grew to thousands daily managed by a staff of 350 employees.
On the other hand, Safwat revealed Jumia’s plans to establish a new partnership with Egypt Post before the end of the current year to incorporate a new delivery system, safe yet affordable.
The company collaborates with both Banque Misr and the Arab African International Bank in order to boost e-payment rates.
Jumia users who prefer the cash on delivery paying system shrank from 98 percent last year to 90 percent now.
