Japan experienced an 11.9 per cent increase in exports in January compared to the same month in the previous year, beating expectations of 9.5 per cent by a Reuters poll, Reuters reported, citing Ministry of Finance data on Wednesday.
On the other hand, imports saw a decline of 9.6 per cent, falling short of the expected 8.4 per cent decrease.
The trade balance resulted in a deficit of 1.758 trillion yen ($11.73 billion), lower than the median estimate of 1.926 trillion yen.
