ITU Ranks Egypt 72nd Globally for Internet Speed

The International Telecommunication Union has released its annual Information and Communications Technology (ICT) figures for 2014, which ranks Egypt 72nd for fixed broadband subscriptions by service speed out of 87 countries.

In Egypt, the average speed access to the internet ranges between 256 Kbps and 2 Mbps, the report added.

Meanwhile, South Korea is ranked first globally in the ITU’s report in terms of the provided speed of internet services.

According to the report, UAE tops the Arab World in providing high-speed internet services, coming in the 50th position, with average speed access to the internet ranging between to 2 Mbps and 8 Mbps.

Furthermore, ITU ranks Saudi Arabia and Morocco 52nd and 59th, respectively.

There are 38.75 million internet users in Egypt.
