The Egyptian-German Allweiler-Farid Pumps company has signed joint contract with Italy’s  Rovatti Pompe to manufacture sewage pumps.

Managing Director Hossam Farid told Amwal Al Ghad Tuesday that the expected cost of the project is estimated at 25 million Egyptian pounds (US$2.8 million) .

The project targets covering market’s needs of pumps to establish sewage plants within the upcoming period, the official added.

Rovatti Pompe -which is owned by Rovatti family- manufactures and develops centrifugal pumps for submersible and surface installations.

He asserted that the project will enable state to provide large dollar liquidity that was used in importing high-technology pumps.

Allweiler-Farid company targets local component to represent 70 percent of the pumps during the first year of implementation and 100 percent during three years, the official said.

Farid clarified that those pumps represents around 40 percent of the total cost of sewage projects that the Egyptian housing ministry is executing in different governorates.

He noted that a delegation of Rovatti Pompe is set to visit Egypt during the upcoming three weeks to start project’s technical steps and sharing Italian expertise and technology in order to start production during three months.

In 2015, Allweiler-Farid has took part in implementing 15 sewage projects affiliate to housing ministry, Farid pointed out.

Farid emphasised that the economic benefit of the project is large since the new pumps will participate in securing energy and electricity amounts that other pumps use.

Allweiler-Farid Pumps is a joint-venture between the German “Allweiler GmbH” and the Egyptian “Farid Pumps Co.”
