Italian as elective language in Egyptian public schools starting in 2024/25

by Nada Ali

Egypt’s Minister of Education signed on Thursday a MoU with Ambassador Michele Quaroni of Italy in Cairo to include the Italian language in all Egyptian public schools starting in the academic year 2024/2025.

The Italian language will be optional in the first grade of preparatory school and the students would be obliged to continue studying the language until the completion of their general or technical secondary education, Ministry stated.

The Italian ambassador praised Reda Hegazy, Egypt’s Minister of Education, for his efforts to upgrade the country’s educational system and for his ongoing support for technical education, the statement added.
