Egypt’s government-led Informal Settlements Development Fund (ISDF) signed Monday a protocol to continue development works on Ezbet Abu Ouf, one of the biggest shanty towns in Port Said.
The protocol will see establishing 22 residential buildings and 352 barns in Ezbet Abu Ouf, at a cost estimated at 222 million Egyptian pounds ($12.6 million).
Khaled Sadek, ISDF’s Executive Manager, said that Port said will be the first Egyptian government to be free of informal settlements.
Egypt has earlier given homes to Ezbet Abu Ouf slum-dwellers in the first phase of the development project.
