Iran Oil Ministry Internet Back On After Cyber Attack

by Amwal Al Ghad English

Five days after it was targeted in a cyber-attack, Iran’s Oil Ministry has reconnected to the internet, Fars news agency reports.

The attack was probably aimed at the Oil Ministry’s automated administrative system and its technical information in order to interfere with the industry’s development, officials believe.

There was no damage to the ministry nor the National Iranian Oil Company’s critical information because their principal servers are separate from public ones.

The cyber-attack was launched on April 22 and led Iran’s Oil Ministry disconnecting its computer system from the internet.
