Egyptian Minister of Communications, Yasser El-Kady has met with the Computer and Software Department at the Federation of Egyptian Chamber of Commerce’s Board of directors where they discussed the future of ICT sector.
El-Kady highlighted the importance of communications and Information Technology as a highly important element to allure direct foreign investments. He also said that his ministry is setting a plan to boost Egypt’s ICT industry and making it competitive with its global counterparts.
Speaking about the 4G operating licence, El-Kady said that it would give a great push to the ICT sector. For the same purpose, Egyptian government focuses on enhancing electronics industry through establishing new factories in partnership with local and global companies in Borg El-Arab and New Asyut technology parks.This would also create new job opportunities within the sector and help raise ICT exports among Arab and African countries.
From his part, Khalil Hassan Khalil, Head of Computer and Software Department at the Federation of Egyptian Chamber of Commerce said that the department’s vision goes exactly in line with the Ministry’s as they both aim to bolster Egyptian tech companies locally and globally.
He added that the upcoming period would witness opening new markets for Egyptian ICT exports in Africa in cooperation with the Union of African Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Agriculture and Professions (UACCIAP) and Egypt’s Commercial Services Office at the Ministry of Trade.
