HTC Unveils 4.3-Inch Desire L

HTC has unveiled a new phone in Taiwan. Curiously, however, the phone doesn’t follow the current naming trend that the company has adopted. Instead of the “One” branding, the handset goes oldschool HTC with the name Desire L.

The handset sports low-end specs and seems to be aimed towards the budget market. It comes equipped with a 4.3-inch SLCD 2 display with a WVGA resolution of 800 x 480 pixels. It’s powered by a 1GHz processor. For imaging, it’s equipped with a 5 megapixel rear camera, but it lacks a front-facing camera. It also has the Beats Audio drivers that HTC includes in its phones.

The phone seems to be available in three colours – black, white and pink. Looking at the pictures, it seems to be running either Sense 4 or Sense 4+. It is unknown whether the phone will get the Sense 5 update.

While the phone has been announced on the HTC Taiwan website, there seems to be no word from the company regarding a possible international version of the smartphone.

HTC had unveiled another phone in its budget offerings back in January. Dubbed the Desire U, it seems to feature a look that reminds one of the classic Desire handsets that were once HTC’s flagships.

The phone features a 4-inch screen with a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels. On the insides, it runs on a 1 GHz processor and has 512MB of RAM. It also has 4GB of internal storage, which is expandable up to 32GB via microSD. For photography, the phone features a 5 megapixel camera with WVGA resolution video recording. Other features include Beats Audio and a 1650 mAh battery. It also features all of the connectivity bells and whistles, including Wi-Fi, 3G and Bluetooth 4.0.

Back in November, HTC had unveiled its dual-SIM smartphone – the Desire SV – at an event in Singapore. The highlighted features of the smartphone include a dual-core processor, an 8 megapixel camera, a 4.3-inch screen and Beats Audio.

HTC claims that a 1GHz dual-core processor helps with web browsing, watching videos, running apps and downloading attachments. This smartphone comes with 768MB of RAM and features a 4.3-inch super LCD 2 screen that HTC claims will make images, videos, emails and presentations look a lot more vivid. This dual-SIM smartphone comes loaded with productivity tools such as Office Suite, Microsoft Exchange push mail and calendar support.

As far as the software goes, the HTC Desire SV comes loaded with Android v4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) with the HTC Sense UI. This handset can be upgraded to Android v4.1 (Jelly Bean) once HTC releases it for the handset.
