Egypt inaugurates a new information technology centre in Minya, 245 kilo metres (152 miles) south of Cairo.
Egyptian Minister of Local Development Ahmed Zaki Badr and Minister of Higher Education Ashraf El-Sheehy inaugurated Friday the Information Technology Centre of Minya University after being developed. The event took place in the presence of Gamal El-Din Abou El-Magd, head of Minya University.
The two ministers toured the university and opened a number of new buildings and facilities to verify its readiness for more improvement works.
The new buildings include a three-story extension of the Faculty of Engineering at a cost of 16 million pounds ($21.3 million) in addition to two extension buildings for the Faculty of Law and the Faculty of Specific Education at a cost of 15 million Pounds.
The minister also witnessed the opening of the Information Technology building at Faculty of Kindergarten after improvements including adding new units and upgrading the centre’s IT networks, digital library and electronic portal at a cost of 750,000 pounds. These improvements aim to improve the quality of higher education within the country’s education facilities.
Moreover, the two ministers opened a control-room for camera surveillance system that makes the university a safer and well-secured place for students.
This project is executed in cooperation with the Egyptian Intelligence by a number of experts who planted security cameras in all the entrances and exits of the University, said Badr Omar, head of Security department at Minya University.
