The Egyptian Prime Minister, Hesham Kandil, inaugurates today the 40th Conference of the African Insurance Organization entitled “The Role of the African Insurance Industry to Support the Economic Development of African Countries”.
The chairman of the Egyptian Financial Supervisory Authority Ashraf El-Sharkawy and chairman of Insurance Federation of Egypt Abdel Raouf Kotb as well as a number of ministers, businessmen, bankers and insurance leaders in Egypt and Africa will attend the conference.
In addition, representatives from international organizations such as the International Labour Organization and International Finance Corporation will attend the conference.
The conference witness high turnout from attendees and sponsors as there about 700 participants from African countries and all over the world.
AIO, established in 1972, is a non-governmental organization recognized by many African governments. Following the headquarters agreement the government of Cameroon signed with the organization, the Permanent Secretariat of the AIO was set up in that country.
AIO has 343 members: 332 of them from 46 countries in Africa and 11 associate members from 7 overseas countries.
