The French police arrested five people, including a veteran jewel thief, in connection with the Piaget jewelry heist, informed sources said on Wednesday.
The heist took place on the first of August, where the gang robbed ten to 15 million euros worth of jewelry and watches, according to police estimates.
At the time of the incident, prosecutors said that three people were directly involved in the heist, two men dressed in suits and a woman wearing a dress.
The authorities also said that at least one of them was armed and that nobody was hurt during the heist.
The store is located on the Rue de la Paix in the heart of the city of light, situated near the prestigious Place Vendôme.
Among the five people arrested was 66-year-old Aissa Bendjaber, who was sentenced earlier this month to 12 years in prison for a robbery at Chopard in 2016.
Bendjaber is nicknamed the “The Borsalino man” due to the fact that he often wears a hat.
He is suspected of participating in a number of heists with a total of stolen goods worth millions of euros.
Piaget was founded in Switzerland and makes high-end jewelry and luxury watches worth reaching tens of thousands of euros.
It is a subsidiary of the Richemont group, which owns other luxury brands such as Cartier, Baume et Mercier, Chloé, and Van Cleef & Arpels.
