by Yomna Yasser

Egypt and France have signed Friday a new protocol to build a joint technical office designated for sustainable cities.

Egyptian Minister of Housing Mustafa Madbouly, and Gerard Wolf, President of the Sustainable Cities Task-Force, have signed the protocol in Cairo.

The joint office will be between Egypt’s New Urban Communities Authority and the French task force.

The office is aimed to asses and implement projects related to sustainable cities in both Egypt and France, Minister Madbouly said.

With the participation of 160 French firms, the protocol will work on developing sustainable cities, notably in Egypt’s new administrative capital, New El Alamein City, East Port Said, he added.

A number of French firms working in transport, communications, planning, design, architecture, energy, building materials and urban sectors, which attended the signing ceremony, has offered to participate in the implementation of Egypt’s new administrative capital project.
