Yesterday marks the death of the veteran Egyptian comedian George Sidhom at the age of 81. He was born in the Upper Egyptian governorate of Sohag on the 28th of May 1938.
Sidhom was a co-founder of one of the oldest stand-up comedy groups in the Arab world.
His style of comedy was a mixture of slapstick comedy, sarcasm, and playing the role of a daft person. Sidhom also utilised his physique at points, with emphasis on overeating.
Sidhom took part in various films, including Maabodat El Gamahir (1967), Al Zawaj ala El-Tarika El-Haditha (1968), Al-Bahth An Fadiha (1973), and Uncle Zizo Habibi (1977).
