Europe Stocks Rise As Obama Wins Second Term

European stock markets rose for a second day in early action on Wednesday, after Barack Obama secured a second term in office as U.S. president.

The Stoxx Europe 600 index added 0.4% to 275.92. Shares of luxury-goods retailer Burberry Group PLC climbed 1.9%, as the firm posted better-than-expected revenue and margins figures for the first half of the year. Shares of ING Group NV rose 0.9%, after a well-received third-quarter earnings statement from the financial-services firm.

Delhaize Group shares jumped 8.6% on the back of its third-quarter earnings report. Among country-specific indexes, France’s CAC 40 index gained 0.9% to 3,508.81, while Germany’s DAX 30 index moved 0.6% higher to 7,424.07. The U.K.’s FTSE 100 index rose 0.2% to 5,896.73.
