EU chief thanks Egypt for ensuring humanitarian access to Gaza

by Nada Ali

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen on Saturday thanked Egypt for its efforts to deliver humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip via the Rafah crossing and for quickly setting up the El-Arish hub to stockpile vital supplies.

Von der Leyen discussed during her meeting with President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi “the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza” and a “political horizon based on a two-state solution.”

Egypt’s Tahya Misr Fund provided on Saturday a convoy of more than 190 aid-laden trucks to the war-torn Palestinian enclave of Gaza Strip.
