El Ruby House has garnered 10 million Egyptian pounds in its first day, making it the highest grossing Egyptian movie in the history of Egyptian cinema, director Peter Mimi announced on Sunday.
The comedy movie, starring Karim Abdel Aziz and Karim Mahmoud Abdel Aziz, has garnered 50 million pounds since its release during Eid Al Adha.
“El Ruby House has earned 50 million pounds yesterday, this is a milestone in the history of Egyptian cinema. I am very thankful that the movie has touched many people. Thank God,” said Mimi in an Instagram post.
The movie follows Ibrahim Al Ruby and his family, who decide to live in a village away from the pressure of modern life, following a private family event leaking on social media.
Al Ruby family go on a trip after Ibrahim’s younger brother convinces him to go back to the city.
Karim Abdel Aziz has been on a regional promotional tour for the movie, including a visit to Saudi Arabia, where he attended a special screening of the movie with his fans.
