Engineer Tarek al-Mulla, Minister of Oil and Mineral Wealth, stated that first phase of the Zohr gas field project will come to an end within November 2017, in view of the project’s timeframe and work programme.
Mulla added in a statement on Saturday that President Sisi followed up with Prime Minister, Sherif Ismail, on the Zohr project as well as other giant projects for producing natural gas.
The minister asked the companies operating on Zohr to intensify their efforts in preparing the production system in the field as well as following the project’s final stages during the coming period.
The Zohr gas field was discovered by Eni in August 2015, using the drillship Saipem 10000, which is still operating in the area. Eni was granted the development lease in early 2016, with production due to start in 2017. The company aims to produce 500,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day by 2019. Source: al-Masry al-Youm
