Telecom sectors and Mobile Phone Operators have made the best use of 28 January lesson when they cut and interrupted the mobile phone services indirectly in the fall of greater number of victims in the beginning of the Egyptian uprising to take the sides of June 30 grade Egyptian people and take a decision for not to cut the services despite the failure to modify National Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (NTRA) act which allows to cut off telecom and internet services in case of threatening the public security.
Many sources in Mobile Phone operators have emphasized that they do not take any decision regarding the interruption or cutting the services whether on the supporters or the opponents of Morsi.
Mobile operators have asserted that the coverage includes 36.000 callings, pointing out that it represents about nearly 14% from the total demonstrators in Tahrir which their number reached around 2 million within the last to days.
Moreover, an official source in NTRA said the current text of NTRA’s act allows for cutting telecom and internet services, noting that the failure to modify the act allows for various parties to control services and cut them in case of the political problems.
