Egypt’s Prosecutor General Sets Bail At EGP 5.000 Against Dina Abdel Fattah

Investigations held by Egypt’s Prosecutor General Talaat Abdallah with TV presenter Dina Abdel Fattah along with Khairy Hussein over the black bloc case have resulted in setting a bail at EGP 5.000 thousand.  Dina Abdel Fattah – TV presenter of the talk show Al Shaab Yoreed (People Want) and Editor-In-Chief of economic magazine Amwal Al Ghad, refused to pay for the bail amid concerns over being put in jail.

Egypt’s Prosecutor General Talaat Abdallah has started on Sunday the investigations with Dina Abdel Fattah and Kahiry Hassan – TV program preparer and journalist at Akhbar El Youm.

It is worth noting that  Dina Abdel Fattah and Khairy Hussein have been summoned to appear at the Prosecutor General’s office on Sunday at 10:00 a.m. to be questioned on the lawsuit no. 1574 for 2013 filed against them for allegedly supporting terrorism by hosting some members of the Black Bloc Groups in the TV talk show.

Many human rights organizations as well as journalists and media syndicates have announced their solidarity with Dina Abdel Fattah. A number of lawyers have also volunteered to defend the TV presenter against the lawsuits filed against her, affirming that summoning her by the Prosecutor General violates the freedom of expression ensured by the Constitution.

Hamdy Kandeel is an Egyptian T.V and Radio personality, has condemned on Thursday the prosecutor general’s decision of investigating with Dina Abdel Fattah, Presenter of “Al Shaab Yoreed” (People Want) talk show, next Sunday over hosting members of Black Block Group.

On his “Twitter” account, Kandeel said that the aim of probing with Dina Abdel Fattah is to terrorize the media and to thwart its prime mission, which is find facts.

On the other hand, the Shura Council, in a session, has discussed the episode in which Dina Abdel Fattah hosted two members of the Black Block Group, whereas some members of the council believed that it promotes for terrorism, threatens the public peace, and encourages on vandalizing the State’s facilities. These reasons led them to file a complaint before the prosecutor general against Dina Abdel Fattah.
