The National Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (NTRA) has announced its offering to Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL) license for a local company, a subsidiary to the national security apparatus.
Dr. Amr Badawi, CEO of (NTRA), said the selection of the company has selected by Cabinet, which makes the decision a sovereign, pointing out that Telecom Egypt (TE) contributes with 2% of the company’s capital that obtaining the license.
Badawi added it is scheduled to provide the service to money and oil transfer companies, as (AVL on line) license will help to follow vehicles and identify its directions and speed via satellite, and this is will be a solution to many problems that appeared after the revolution including car theft , diesel fuel crisis, kidnapping tourists buses and other.
Badawi has revealed (NTRA)’s plan to allow the service for other companies and this after two years from applying the license.
(AVL) license was banned by some higher authorities in Egypt during the reign of former President Hosni Mubarak because of the refusal of the former regime to apply it fearing that this service will track their ways and exposure them to the assassination, a lot of companies have faced many problems as result of their inability to keep track of goods ,cars used for distributing products or others used for money transfer.
