National Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (NTRA) plans offering a bid for local manufacture of digital broadcast receivers by next September.
CEO of NTRA Hisham Al-Alyali revealed that the bid aims to provide users by ‘Analog’ broadcast in order to make them converting into digital broadcast for radio and television services.
Speaking to Amwal Al Ghad, Al-Alyali added that NTRA is currently conducting necessary preparations to launch RFP.
The country’s new investment plan is to covert the required investments into digital broadcast within the current year with around EGP500 million as a first phase.
Egypt signed an agreement with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in order to convert into digital broadcast of radio and television services by 2015.
