Egyptian interim President Adly Mansour is scheduled to visit Kuwait on Wednesday, his second trip since the Supreme Constitutional Court head was installed as President after the ouster of former Islamist president Mohamed Morsi.
A Foreign Ministry statement said Mansour will meet Kuwait’s ruler Sabah Al-Ahmed Al-Sabah Wednesday morning to formally thank the Gulf country for its support during Egypt’s transitional phase.
Kuwait pledged $4 billion in aid to Egypt shortly after Morsi was ousted in July, of which it received $2 billion in September; one billion in the form of a grant and another in oil.
Mansour met Saudi King Abdullah in October, who reiterated his Kingdom’s support, being previously unwelcoming of Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood rulers.
Gulf countries Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and the UAE were among the chief supporters of the army’s removal of Morsi after mass protests against him, with all three pledging billions in aid.
