Dr. Tarek Wafiq, Egypt’s Housing and Urban Communities Minister, has held a meeting On Thursday with Dr. Mostafa al-Sharbatly, a member of the Freedom and Justice Party’s supreme authority and Muslim Brotherhood leader in Alexandria, as a new government ombudsman, in order to discuss the development of Housing Ministry’s performance.
Dr. Wafiq has stated that the the Board of Grievances will become a system court which deliver the citizens’ complaints to the officials across governorates, so as to solve it, pointing out that the meeting has discussed the ways to promote the efficiency of direct e-communication in various sectors to reduce the time to deal with complaints, and that there is a “typical” model for a complaint or grievance filled with all the required information, which will help the official government to communicate with the complainant.
Wafiq has revealed that there is a box for receiving the complaints in the Housing headquarters as more that 1000 complaints have sent in the last month, communicating with the complainant by the specialist official, noting that the responding or providing information is very important for the citizen.
Sharbatly has asserted that the ministry is cooperating fully with the Grievances, pointing out that a monthly report will be presented to the President regarding the communication of the ministries and governorates with the ombudsman, the report of the last May has revealed that there are 11280 complaints but the ministry responded 11231, while 30 complaints did not include the sufficient data from its owners.
Sharbatly added that the Grievances seeks to enter the civil society organizations in Grievances in tripartite partnership with the ministry, to meet the needs of some citizens, as in housing sector there are organizations and businessmen that may help to subsidize the needy categories.
Within the meeting , some complaints models have been discussed, and the Minister has promised for replying and solving them.
