The official statistics of the foreign trade revealed that the Egyptian exports to South Korea in 2012 amounted to $ 802 million, 16% up, compared to $ 691 million in 2011.
These exports were divided into petroleum exports at $ 731.6 million in 2012, while they hit $ 616 million in 2011, rose by 18.8%. The other exports to South Korea in 2012 $ 70.4 million, in return for $ 75 million in 2011, 6.6% down.
The main cause behind declining Egypt’s non-petroleum exports is that the Egyptian exports of the raw cotton decreased to achieve $ 3 million in 2012 in return for $ 6.6 million in 2011. Meanwhile, the beet pulp exports recorded $ 6.9 million in 2012, compared to $ 10.4 million in 2011, this decline is due to decreasing the cultivated areas of beet in 2012.
On the other hand, the statistics showed that Egypt’s imports from South Korea climbed 4.6% in 2012 to $ 1807 million, compared to $1727 million in 2011.
Egypt’s imports from South Korea in January 2012 were cars at $ 434 million, spare parts at $ 200 million, and other imports at various values.
