Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi has called for establishing a child fund as soon as possible, and stressed the need to find solutions to alleviate the suffering of street children, state news agency MENA has reported .
El-Sisi’s statements came after a meeting with housing minister Hala Youssef, according to MENA.
There are no official estimates for the number of street children in Egypt, but studies have put them in the thousands.
El-Sisi stressed the importance of cooperation between the ministries of housing and social solidarity to help street children.
