Egypt’s Defence Minister Sedki Sobhi headed with an official delegation to Ivory Coast on Tuesday to participate in the sixth meeting of the Community of Sahel-Saharan States, which is taking place from 1 to 5 May.

Sobhi is set to hold meetings with a range of counterparts from the community’s member-states on the sidelines of the gathering, which will focus on military cooperation.

The Community of Sahel-Saharan States is the second-largest organisation in the continent after the African Union.

The community has 27 member-states and aims to create a free trade area within Africa as well as cooperation on security and defence.
