Egyptian Cabinet Oks ADSL National Initiative with EGP16.8 bln Investments

 The Egyptian Cabinet reviewed yesterday a report which discussed by the Telecom Minister regarding what has been implemented so far concerning the high-speed internet (ADSL) through the national initiative.

Many projects prepared to offer including phase I pilot project, Health, Education, Youth, Scientific Research Ministries will make the best of this phase.

The project includes 1062 schools, 896 Youth Center, 340 hospital and health unit, and 57 centers of scientific research.

The total investment budgets of this project reached EGP300 million which will be funded from the Universal Service Fund of the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA) with total expected investments to achieve the objectives of the first phase up EGP 8.16 billion.

The initiative will provide 34 K direct job opportunities and 86 K indirect job opportunities of the phase I, the Cabinet decided to approve the initiative as a national project for all the state’s sectors.
