Egypt’s construction company Al-Abd says it is planning to complete delivering six infrastructure projects in Beheira, Gharbia, and Kafr El Sheikh governorates within a timeframe of 18 months.

At a cost worth 500 million Egyptian pounds ($27.9 million), the six flagships will include a number of drinking water networks, sewage lines, and water treatment stations, Al-Abd’s managing director Said Fattouh said on Monday.

“These projects are set to be financed by the World Bank,” Fattouh told Amwal Al Ghad, saying the state-run company has been earlier mandated to carry out the works, where a bunch of construction firms competed to win the tender.

The Egyptian official added that Al-Abd is seeking to hand over the infrastructure projects in Gharbia governorate at the end of the current year.

Al-Abd is currently competing to attain a number of utilities projects worth 150 million pounds in the country’s new administrative capital, 45 km (28 miles) east of Cairo, in cooperation with Armed Forces Engineering Authority.

“We are executing various utilities flagships ranging between 350 million pounds and 400 million pounds, in favour of Armed Forces Engineering Authority,” he said.
