Egypt’s Ahly player, Ramadan Sobhi’s agent has revealed that some Italian Serie A topflight teams are interested in the winger, after he rose to prominence this season with some fine displays on Ahly’s frontline.
“Sobhi is on the radar of most of the European teams,” the player’s agent Nader Shawki told a television programme late on Thursday.
Last summer, Ahly extended Sobhi’s loan deal from English side Huddersfield Town for one more season.
“Huddersfield Town are following the player well as they want to market him for a high price,” he said.
“I hope Sobhi is looking forward to play overseas but I didn’t speak with him right now, so we will wait until the end of the ongoing season,” he added.
“There are Italian teams are monitoring Ramadan Sobhi, including some Egyptian international players.”
“I hope Sobhi will join Spain’s La Liga, Italy’s Serie A or Germany as it’s not acceptable to play in the Belgium league after he played in England,” the agent said.
The talented winger is a key player in coach Rene Weiler’s lineup, bringing much-needed strength and creativity to the frontline.
Sobhi, who came up through Ahly’s youth ranks and made his senior team debut in February 2014, was seen as one of the hottest prospects in Egyptian football and started his European journey in 2016 at Stoke City after winning two Egyptian Premier League titles and a CAF Confederation Cup trophy.
He then joined Huddersfield after Stoke were relegated to the second division.
He failed to settle in, however, and made only four appearances in the 2018-2019 season, before returning to Ahly.
