Ashraf Halim, Vice President Commercial of the Egyptian Company for Mobile Services(Mobinil)-(EMOB.CA) revealed that the three mobile phone operators haven’t notified the decision of referring the 3 operators to the persecutions, noting that the 3 operators knew the decision from the newspapers.
Halim has informed Amwal Al Ghad that the National Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (NTRA) has the right to make the necessary measures in order to protect the operators from any counter-measures, stressing that the operators obtain NTRA’s approval before taking any step concerning the offers or the services.
Hisham Al-Alayli, CEO of NTRA explained regarding the referral of the operators to prosecutions that NTRA is seeking to make its specialization obvious and there many several meetings during the current week to solve this dilemma.
Egypt’s Competition Authority (ECA) had referred the three mobile operators Mobinil ,Etisalat and Vodafone to public prosecutors for investigation, charging for raising the prices of mobile phone services.
ECA explained that the customers assumed more than EGP half a billion per year, adding that ECA received a notification during the last October against the three mobile operators to impose a tax stamp cards for clients, in conjunction with each others, starting from March 2012, which led to start taking investigations and procedures in addition to collecting the evidence of notifications.
