GB Auto (AUTO.CA) Egyptian Passenger Car Market Brief for November 2012 revealed that, overall sales in the Egyptian passenger car market increased 32% year-on-year in the month to 13,279 units, as consumer sentiment continues to show signs of improvement in November.
Year-to-date, sales have risen 7% to 127,789 units.
Market-wide, November 2012 sales are higher than the year-to-date average by 14.3%, and up 22% on the 11M 2011 average. They are down 0.7% month-on-month.
Year-to-date, CKD unit sales increased in volume by 2.2% while CBU unit sales surged 10.1% compared to 11M 2011.
Year-to-date, sales of passenger cars from South Korea rose 12.6% to 55,130 units. Of those, 37,469 units were Hyundai passenger cars.
In November, Hyundai held a 24% share of the Egyptian passenger car market; the drop in market share is a function of ongoing supply constraints on key models. In 11M 2012, Hyundai’s market share was a strong 29.3%.
Of the 353 taxis sold as taxi replacements in November 2012, all were Hyundai Vernas.
