Egypt is set to establish an industrial park in Borg El-Arab, Alexandria in cooperation with international and national firms, including French Alstom, said the Minister of Transport Kamel Al-Wazir on Sunday.
The park will include seven factories including one built by Spain-based Talgo for the manufacturing of railcars. While Spain’s Colway will also establish a factory to produce internal components of trains.
The government will cooperate with Linza Egypt to construct a factory for manufacturing railway spare parts. In addition a factory in cooperation with Hyundai Rotem to manufacture metro carriages.
The Egyptian government will also work with Hungary’s Ganz Mavag to produce railcars, and with Austrian Voestalpine to produce railway keys.
The announcement was made during the minister’s visit to the railway’s equipment factory SEMAF to inspect work done within the framework of cooperation between the Ministry of Transport and the Arab Organization for Industrialization (AOI) in the field of railway industry.
