Egypt stocks mostly lower Tuesday, main index solely up

Egypt’s stocks finished slightly lower Tuesday driven by Arab investors’ selloff. Main index, EGX30 solely went up; it rose 0.24 percent to end at 7669.12 points.

The bourse incurred losses amounting to 36 million Egyptian pounds (US$4.6 million). Additionally, the market capitalisation recorded 457.834 billion pounds during the closing session of Tuesday.

Indices

The newly-launched EGX50 EWI index dipped 0.01 percent to 1280.14 points.

EGX20 slumped 0.07 percent to 7355.87 points.

In addition, the mid- and small-cap index EGX70 inched lower 0.64 percent to 398.48 points. The price index, EGX100 decreased 0.16 percent to 858.87 points.

Turnovers lower

On Tuesday, the bourse’s trading volume has hit 256.347 million securities, with turnovers closed at 684.607 million pounds, exchanged through 23,059 thousand transactions.

Also during the closing session, 169 listed securities have been traded in; 77 declined, 55 advanced; while 35 kept their previous levels.

Investors’ Activities

Arab investors were net sellers Tuesday seizing 7.49 percent of the total market, with a net equity of 23.121 million, excluding the deals.

On the contrary, local and non-Arab foreign investors were net buyers capturing 80.48 percent and 12.03 percent respectively of the total markets, with a net equity of 4.119 million pounds and 19.001 million pounds, respectively, excluding the deals.
