Egypt stocks lose $38.1 million in a week

In a week, Egypt’s stock market registered humble gains worth 298 million Egyptian pounds (US$38.1 million), yet the main index managed to climb 3 percent.

Market Cap

Market capitalisation ended at 386.214 billion pounds last Thursday, compared to 385.9 billion pounds at the end of a week earlier.

Indices

Main index, EGX 30 inched up 3 percent in a week to close at 5994 points during Thursday’s session, compared to 5814 points in the same period a week earlier.

The main index registered its highest point on Wednesday closing at 5947.7 points, whereas its lowest point recorded on Sunday at 5753.74 points.

In addition, the mid- and small-cap index, the EGX70 also rose 0.6 percent closing at 349 points during Thursday’s session, from 347 points at the end of a week earlier.
The price index, EGX100 grew higher 1.1 percent finishing at 704 points during Thursday’s session versus 696 points at the end of a week earlier.

Turnovers
Through last week, the trading volume hit around 830 million securities, compared to 990 million. For the traded value, it reached 5 billion pounds against 6.7 billion pounds a week earlier.
