by Nada Ali

Egypt’s private-sector minimum wage was raised to 3,500 Egyptian pounds per month to be effective 1 January 2024, compared to 3,000 pounds in July, the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development said in a statement on Friday.

The National Wages Council (NWC) also has decided to pay 200 pounds annual periodic bonus for workers in the private sector, up from 100 pounds previously, the statement further added.

It is worth mentioning that earlier this year, the minimum wage for the private sector was increased from 2,400 pounds to 2,700 per month pounds, and then to 3,000 pounds in June.
