Egypt’s Minister of Communication and Information Technology Yasser El Kady launched the technology innovation cluster initiative nationwide during the 21st edition of Cairo ICT 2017.
The new initiative aims to to disseminate creativity and promote the integration of information technology in various fields.
Meanwhile, President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi inaugurated Sunday the 21st Cairo ICT 2017, organized under his auspices, on December 3-6, at Egypt Convention Center, in New Cairo, where he delivered a speech at the inauguration ceremony.
The inauguration was attended by Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Housing Mostafa Madbouli, the ICT Minister Yasser ElKady and a number of ministers and senior officials. The ceremony was also attended by a number of officials of international organizations and global communications companies, including the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations Amina Mohammed, and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Secretary-General Houlin Zhao.
During the event, ElKady delivered a speech, through which he showcased the efforts employed to develop the ICT sector, including the opening of two new technology parks. This is in addition to the production of the first Egyptian mobile phone that is manufactured locally.
Moreover, el-Sisi inaugurated several projects in the ICT field through video conferencing, including the first phase of Beni Suef and Sadat City technology parks, and the opening of an electronics factory in New Assuit Technology Park, to produce the first Egyptian mobile phone. The President also witnessed the launch of Egypt eVisa program for tourists to enter Egypt.
