Egypt Plans Vehicle GPS Manufacture After Importing 75.000 Units

Eng. Atef Helmy, Egypt’s Information and Communication and Technology Minister, said Egypt will manufacture (GPS) Egypt Vehicle Tracking Services after importing 75.000 units according to the signed protocol with the Turkish company.

The Minister added on the sidelines of press conference for launching (GPS) for companies and individuals in cooperation with Vodafone Egypt, it is scheduled to get the design hardware by the Turkish company after importing the agreed quantity and according to the needs of the local market.

Helmy has pointed to the former efforts of the Ministers and the National Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (NTRA) for offering the ideas of this service, developing the ICT sector in the Egyptian market, pointing out that this service is long-awaited for years.

Helmy has asserted that there are 4 essential topics including money transfer via mobile phone, (GPS), Frequencies and unified license, noting that three services have been activated, in addition, it is expected for the fourth (unified license) to activate within the coming July.
