Egypt’s Central Bank decided to keep key interest rates unchanged on Thursday, a day after ex-army chief Abdel Fattah al-Sisi swept to victory in a presidential election.
In an attempt to balance growth and inflation pressures, the central bank’s monetary policy committee (MPC) left the overnight deposit rate and the overnight lending rate at 8.25% and 9.25%, respectively.
The discount rate also remained unchanged at 8.75%, according to the central bank’s website.
