Egypt launches awareness campaign against child marriage

Egyptian Ministry of Social Solidarity launched on Sunday an integrated campaign to eradicate child marriage through programme for community development and the activities of the ministry’s campaign, according to a statement. As, it roams all over the governorates under the slogan “With awareness, Egypt changes for the better.”

The campaign focuses on the fragile community and families less exploitation of “Takaful and Karama” cash support programme, which contains to 4.1 million families in all governorates, the miniter Nivine El Kabbag said.

The child marriage awareness campaign targets villages, centers related to the presidential initiative “Decent Life, and all families benefiting from social protection services provided by the Ministry of Social Solidarity, El Kabbag added.

The Ministry’s partner non-governmental organisaions, solidarity directorates mass media and social media platforms participate in the campaign in cooperation with the United Nations Development Programme along the contribution of the European Union and the British Embassy in Cairo.

In addition to this, the campaign provides raising awareness for family planning which performed by the awareness programme for community development, among 12 societal issues that the most vulnerable groups suffer from.
