Egypt’s Minister of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Eng. Atef Helmy, has opened on Thursday two scientific research centers designated for the new headquarters of Cairo University in Sheikh Zayed 6th October City.
For the first center, it is assigned to conduct nanotechnology researches to contribute to preparing high-calibre scholars specialized in the nanotech to work in fields of water desalination and solar energy.
The nanotechnology center will be the first of its kind in Egypt financed by Science and Technological Development Fund (STDF).
For the second center, it is related to nuclear studies aiming to prepare high-calibre scholars in field of the peaceful uses of nuclear reactors.
Ministers of Housing, Higher Education alongside Giza Governor ,Cairo University’s President and the chairman of Academy of Scientific Research and Technology (ASRT) have attended the inauguration ceremony of the two centers.
Eng. Helmy said the cost of nanotechnology center has reached EGP 235 million, as the Ministry has contributed with EGP 90 million.
