Egypt end week in red, benchmark EGX 30 drops 0.56%

Egypt’s stock exchange (EGX) has ended lower on Wednesday, with the benchmark EGX 30 index dropped by 0.56 percent to 11,132 points.

EGX 70 EWI index of the leading smaller and mid cap enterprises (SME) tumbled by 2.72 percent to 2,413 points. The all-embracing index, EGX 100 went down by 2 percent to 3,390 points.

Trading will be off on Thursday 21 October in honour of Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) birthday.

The Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) birthday is observed on the 12th of Rabi Al-Awwal – the third month of the Islamic calendar – in most of the Islamic countries.

Market Cap   

The country’s market capitalisation has posted gains on Wednesday worth 8.5 billion Egyptian pounds ($541.2 million), ending the trading 742.109 billion pounds supported by local investors’ buying appetite.

Trading Aggregates            

Trading value has approximately reached around 3.3 billion pounds, while the trading volume has almost recorded 593.3 million securities executed 65.7 transactions.
