The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) had on Tuesday midday posted gains of EGP 2.51 billion as the capital market has reached EGP 323.238 billion according to the data compiled by Amwal Al Ghad at 10:46 GMT (12:46 local time).
The main index, EGX30 jumped 1.11% to hit 4443 p. EGX20 climbed 1.81% to reach 5008.36 p.
Meanwhile, the mid- and small-cap index, the EGX70 went up 0.78% to hit 394.68 p. Price index EGX100 edged up 0.74% to reach 688.43 p.
Traded volume reached 25.931 million securities worth EGP 81.247 million, exchanged through 16.469 thousand transactions.
This was after trading in 124 listed securities; 18 declined and 87 advanced while 19 keeping their previous levels.
Arabs and non-Arab Foreigners were net sellers seizing 6.64% and 28.27% respectively, of the total markets, with a net equity of EGP 2.151 million and EGP 1.276 million excluding the deals.
On the other hand, Egyptians were net buyers seizing 65.09% of the total markets, with a net equity of EGP 3.428 million excluding the deals.
EGX’s leading shares witnessed collective rise.
Orascom Telecom Media & Technology Holding
Shares of Orascom Telecom Media & Technology Holding (OTMT.CA) topped midday upwards by soaring 9.32% reaching EGP 1.29.
Egypt’s Orascom Telecom Media and Technology (OTMT) said on Tuesday it would distribute a 1.05 Egyptian pound ($0.17) per share dividend following the sale of its main asset, Egyptian mobile company Mobinil .
OTMT said it made a net profit of 4.56 billion Egyptian pounds from its establishment in November until June 7, 2012, and had retained earnings of 1.74 million pounds from before its formation.
Shares owned by Orascom Telecom Holding (OTH) (ORTE.CA) climbed 2.74% reaching EGP 3.00. . Shares of EFG-Hermes Holding (HRHO.CA) surged 2.50% reaching EGP 10.25.
Shares of Orascom Construction Industries (OCIC.CA) went up 1.13% hitting 247.00. Shares of Commercial International Bank- Egypt (COMI.CA) inched higher 0.12% hitting EGP 24.05.
