Disney+ to add Hulu content

Disney will be adding Hulu content to its streaming service, Disney+, offering a one app experience in the U.S., Disney announced on Wednesday.

This will offer greater opportunities for advertisers, while giving bundle subscribers access to more robust and streamlined content, said Bob Iger, Disney CEO.

Iger further added that this will leading to greater audience engagement and ultimately which resulting a more unified streaming experience.

The decision comes during Disney’s plans to buy the entirety of Hulu, as it currently owns 66 percent, while Comcast owns the other 34 percent. Disney’s one app offering is set to launch by the end of this year.

“The content on Disney+ with general entertainment is a very strong combination from a subscriber acquisition and subscriber retention perspective, and for advertisers,” according to Iger.

Disney has also announced it will possibly be raising the price of its ad-free streaming service later this year, according to its statement.

Disney offered the cheaper ad-supported options, following Netflix’s footsteps, as its subscriber growth started to slow down, so they focused on keeping up the pace of streaming profits.
