Egyptian exports of detergents rose by 46 percent in January-June 2016 to around 934.6 million pounds (US$105.2 million) from 639.7 million pounds a year earlier.
The latest report released by state’s Chemical Export Council (CEC) on Saturday showed that detergents exports captured 7.4 percent of total exports of chemical industries sector during the first half of 2016.
In June 2016, detergents exports hiked by 164% to around 272.9 million pounds opposed to 103.5 million a year earlier, getting 12.2 percent of chemicals exports at the same month of 2015.
The report stated that detergent exports increased during the first quarter of 2016 to 442.7 million pounds compared to 330.6 million pounds at the first quarter of 2015, making a 33.9 percent increase.
Similarly, detergents exports inched up during the second quarter of 2016 by 59.1 percent to register 491.8 million pounds versus 309.1 million at the same period of 2015.
