Chinese-Egyptian Joint Ministerial Committee to kick off in Beijing tomorrow

The Egyptian-Chinese Joint Ministerial Committee will kick off on Monday, July 11, in Chinese capital Beijing to discuss mutual projects between the two states.

On the sidelines of his participation in meetings of the G20 trade ministers that ended today, Egypt’s Trade and Industry Minister Tarek Qabil held an expanded meeting with Chinese Commerce Minister Gao Hucheng.

During the meeting, Qabil and Hucheng discussed means of strengthening commercial and economic cooperation between Egypt and China as pursuant to the strategic partnership signed by the leaders of two states.

Qabil and Hucheng also discussed the results of the second meeting of the Egyptian-Chinese working group concerned with following up high-priority projects that will be executed in collaboration with the Chinese side.

The two sides showcased the progress achieved in nearly 15 projects under a framework agreement in the fields of infrastructure, energy, health and transport.

The meeting also included the preparations for Egypt’s president Abdel Fattah al-Sisi’s participation in G20 Summit that will take place in China next September.

On other side, Hucheng emphasised on China’s keenness to enhance its strategic relations with Egypt since the second is one of China’s most trade partners in Africa and the Middle East.

Furthermore, minister Qabil  met with Managing Director of Shanghai Electric Group Co.,Ltd. to showcase the projects that the Chinese company plans to implement in Egypt within the coming period.

The set-to-be executed projects includes establishing a number of coal power plant in Hamraween region.

Minister Qabil asserted that the Egyptian government exerts efforts to remove all obstacles facing Chinese firms that keen on investing in the Egyptian market so as they start their projects as soon as possible.

Qabil is due in China by the beginning of July to review cooperation projects.

He attended the signing of the minutes of the second meeting of the Egyptian-Chinese working group concerned with following up high-priority projects.
