China’s capital goods prices rise in mid-April

by Nada Ali

China’s capital goods prices edged higher in mid-April compared to the beginning of the month, according to official data released on Wednesday, as reported by Xinhua.

The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) reported that out of 50 major capital goods monitored, 34 experienced price increases.

These goods, classified into nine categories including steel, fuel, and chemicals, reflect trends in production costs across various industries.

However, the data also showed price declines for 16 capital goods, highlighting some pockets of softening demand.

The NBS data is based on a survey conducted every 10 days, collecting information from nearly 2,000 wholesalers and distributors across 31 provinces in China.
