The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) is completely independent from the government and its main goals are keeping the commodities prices stable and supplying basic goods, said Hisham Ramez, Governor of CBE.
During an interview with Mahmoud Saad on Al Nahar TV Channel, Ramez affirmed that CBE does not play any political role and cooperates with the government to find solutions to the main problems facing citizens.
“The unstable political situation and ongoing security chaos will continue to undermine any efforts exerted by the government to overcome the current economic woes. Politicians and people shall cooperate in order to pass the current crisis unscathed,” he stated.
Regarding the loans and deposits offered by Arab countries such as Qatar, Libya and Turkey to Egypt, he confirmed that these funds are temporary solutions to the current crisis, but political and economic stability is a must to achieve real development.
